Updated: Jun 3, 2024

I am deeply honored to have facilitated and shared in this transformative journey with all of you during the class of 2024 Spring at NTHU for IBBA program . Over the past 16 weeks, 42 students you’ve shown tremendous effort in stepping out of your comfort zones, exploring new possibilities, and embracing the notion of "good enough" with kindness and love.

Module 1: New Perspectives / 新視角

The first module aimed to shift your perspectives, encouraging you to view the world through different lenses. These lenses, though often counterintuitive, reflect the experiences and insights of great entrepreneurs and leaders in digital economy. You bravely took the leap to see the unexplainable at first sight and reflect on the diverse mindsets and frameworks necessary for both traditional business and startup ventures. Your courage to adopt first then adapt these new perspectives is commendable.

Diving into new perspectives made all of us uncomfortable and it was obvious that we had different levels of commitment because of it. Having a difficult, honest, yet necessary confessional talk with each other allowed us to realign our perspectives and have a brand new starting point where we can all be uncomfortable yet be on the same page to start growing together. This moment was critical in jumpstarting our momentum and opened a lot more doors than we initially thought was possible.
“What you have is in the comfort zone but what you want is outside of it.”

Module 2: Building the Foundation /

In the second module, we delved into the technical and fundamental components of venture creation. This phase was challenging, as some of you were kind to share vulnerabilities via in-class discussion and weekly class notes. It was definitely not easy, but these experiences were crucial in laying the groundwork for what was to come and what is takes to build a product/service people love. The collaboration and mutual support you demonstrated among your team mates and class mates were vital in overcoming these hurdles.

~ Group Reflection on Module 2 ~

In Module 2, Professor David emphasized the importance of building a strong foundation for a startup, highlighting the key characteristics of a good founding team: resilience, resourcefulness, and kindness towards teammates. These traits have been invaluable as we develop our startup project. As we progressed through Module 2/B, we saw the principles from Module 1/A come to life, confronting outdated, traditional beliefs and facing numerous business and relationship challenges that required us to adapt our thinking to "survive" and achieve our goals. Working in a multinational group pushed us out of our comfort zones, allowing us to hear diverse perspectives and gain insights into addressing neglected pain points in other regions. Embracing diversity, validation, and respectful communication has been crucial in overcoming misunderstandings among team members. Additionally, we learned the components of building an A+ team, discovering the importance of being open-minded, reliable, and communicative to achieve our collective goals
